Objective: The vision of the project is to see the forest restored and respected by all who depend on it. The forest is the source of underground water supply holding moisture in the soil. When more trees are growing in the forest, the water springs (known as naam sap, pa naam sham or pa naam phud) will continue to flow unhindered throughout the year. The planting of 20,000 trees in two sub-districts Baan Chaang and Geud Chaang in the district of Mae Taeng is an effort to exert more control over local natural resources by the people within the community. The local villagers will plant the trees and they will be reimbursed at One Baht per Tree. Funds are collected at the Bamboo Country Lodge from the guests staying in the lodge. The tree planting will be a continuous activity year after year to be carried on by the younger members of the Trees for Life committee.
Acknowledgement of Receipt of Donations: Those persons donating Baht 1,000 will see their names on tags on the section where 1,000 trees is grouped. The donors are encouraged to visit their section in the forest any time.
